|
|
Preface: I am posting this up here because I know a lot of OK D-Day players would enjoy and learn a great deal from these courses offered. I do not have an account over at Axis Command and would be appreciate it if someone would post this up over there if they feel that it is appropriate. These two courses are excellent learning opportunities and the price is dirt cheap for the amount of material taught plus the food, blanks etc.
Light Leaders Course & Warrior Basic Course.
Once per year One Shepherd publically opens up its Student Leadership Program to outside participants who seek to become better warrior leaders. You do not need to be a member to attend.
This Labor Day weekend, Sept 5-6, 2009 is that once per year opportunity!
This is essentially two training courses being run simultaneously within one event. The Basic Warrior Course teaches skills needed to be an effective member of a fireteam. The Light Leaders Course teaches how to be an effective leader of warriors. As both courses are being taught simultaneously, participants must select one or the other course.
Course specifics:
Warrior Basic Course
This course includes a fast paced series of classes designed to take attendees from a varied base of experience and give them the skills they need to be an effective member of a team. Using a “crawl, walk, run” approach, attendees are first taught individual skills, then move into the small unit battle drills needed to make fast reactions in fluid, dynamic combat.
Students complete a block of instruction then transition into practical exercises where they apply the skills they just learned using AR15 and AKM-series weapons fitted with MILES 2000 simulation. This is the same MILES used by our military. Additionally, modern night vision optics are used during portions of the training.
While this is a “basic” course, this is not a low level or simplistic course! If you are not a current or veteran infantryman, this is a course that will teach you a great deal. The program of instruction is well thought out and the material is both current and practical, teaching you much of the important lessons our forces have learned in recent conflicts around the globe. Indeed, many of the instructors come directly from those experiences.
Light Leaders Course
This course is designed to teach leaders of light infantry units how to effectively lead and command troops on the field of battle. Skills taught include radio communication, day and night land navigation, performance assessment, and combat orders – where you will learn how to successfully convey to those under your command your intentions and get the most out of your troops.
Like the Basic Warrior Course, this course involves periods of instruction followed by practical application exercises. Unlike the Basic Warrior Course, this event does not involve direct force-on-force combat. Participants do not use weapon simulation.
This is a course for leaders. If you have already completed the Basic Warrior Course or if you are in a position within your group or team where you consistently find yourself leading troops, this is the course for you. If you are in a supervisory, managerial or engineering position in your day job, you will also take a great deal of useful information away from this course.
Basic information that applies to both courses:
When:
Sept 5th starting at 08:30 till Sept 6th ending at 12:00 hours. Yes, this is an overnight course. Tentage is provided and those coming from out of town are welcome to show up and camp Friday night as well.

There is nothing dull about this training. Whichever class you select, you will leave this event a better warrior and leader than when you arrived. One Shepherd is in the business of making leaders, and One Shepherd is very good at it. |

I agree, the cost to value does not get any better...unless they are serving Viet Nam era C-rats! This is a great opportunity for all who like chasing people around in the woods and trying to shoot them before they shoot at you. In other words, it is directly applicable to most who like paintball.
Team Wood Pecker is making plans to be there! |
